Welcome Song: Hi, Hello and How Are You (to the tune of London Bridges)
Hi, hello and how are you?
How are you? How are you?
Hi, hello and how are you?
How are you today?
Song: Open Shut Them
Open shut them, open shut them
Give a little clap, clap, clap.
Open shut them, open shut them
Put them in your lap, lap, lap.
Creep them, crawl them
Creep them, crawl them
Right up to your chin, chin, chin.
Open up your mouth …
But do not let them in!
Song: Clap Clap Clap Your Hands (to the tune of Row, Row, Row Your Boat)
Clap, clap, clap your hands
Clap them now with me.
Clap your hands, let me see
Clap them now with me.
Tap, tap, tap your knees // Shake, shake, shake your feet
Book: Over in the Ocean in a Coral Reef by Marianne Berkes; illustrated by Jeanette Canyon
This book has amazing illustrations but it is looooooooong. I believe there were ten verses and since it’s not a classic song melody, no one can really sing along with you so I was left singing on my own the whole time. You’ll notice I did not use it again for 2016’s fish story time …
Action Rhyme: One, Two, Three, Four, Five
One, two, three, four, five (count off on fingers)
Once I caught a fish alive (put hands together and wiggle like a fish)
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten (count off on fingers)
Then I threw it back again. (make throwing motion)
Why did I let it go? (hold out hands asking why)
Because it bit my finger so! (shake hand, as if hurt)
Which finger did it bite? (hold out hands asking why)
This little finger on the right. (wiggle pinkie finger)

Book: The Pout-Pout Fish by Deborah Diesen; illustrated by Dan Hanna
Song: Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
Sung three times, getting faster each time.
Flannel: Five Little Fish
One little fishy swimming in the ocean blue,
Here comes another one, then there were two.
Two little fishies swimming in the sea,
Here comes another one, then there were three.
Three little fishies swimming near the shore,
Here comes another one, then there were four.
Four little fishies swim around and dive,
Here comes another one and now there are five.
Here comes a shark looking for some fun,
Look out fishies! And away they run.

Song: Row Row Row Your Boat
I do three verses of this classic:
Row row row your boat (the traditional way) //
Rock rock rock your boat, sway from side to side
Merrily merrily merrily merrily what a bumpy ride (bump hands on lap) //
Row row row your boat, gently down the stream
If you see a crocodile (crocodile snap with arms)
Don’t forget to scream (*AH*)
