Flannel: Five Scary Monsters
Five scary monsters howling out a roar,
One ran away, and then there were four.
Four scary monsters hiding in a tree,
One fell out, and then there were three.
Three scary monsters eating spider stew,
One got sick, and then there were two.
Two scary monsters having lots of fun,
One ran off, and there there was one.
One scary monster, afraid to be a hero,
He ran away, and then there were zero.

Song: Row Row Row Your Boat
I do three verses of this classic:
Row row row your boat (the traditional way) //
Rock rock rock your boat, sway from side to side
Merrily merrily merrily merrily what a bumpy ride (bump hands on lap) //
Row row row your boat, gently down the stream
If you see a crocodile (crocodile snap with arms)
Don’t forget to scream (*AH*)
Boy were they wiggly today! I had the kids show me their best crocodile arms and one of the little boys tried to eat me with his crocodile! I’ll chalk it up to the first beautiful Saturday of spring …

This is our first Saturday story time in a year and the first in the new building. I was worried it wouldn’t be well attended because the weather is so gorgeous today but I had 30 people! A good start to a three-part series.
I printed out naked mole rat paper dolls for the kids if anyone was interested in doing a craft afterwards (only a few little ones participated) but I thought it might be fun to add something to our Saturday story time.
