Welcome Song: Clap and Sing Hello (to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell)
We clap and sing hello,
We clap and sing hello,
With our friends at story time,
We clap and sing hello!
We tap and sing hello (tap knees) //
We stretch and sing hello (stretch arms up) //
We wave and sing hello (wave)

Book: Firefighter Frank by Monica Wellington
Bright and colorful book with diverse set of firefighters going about their daily lives. Good introduction to our story time theme and we went over the fire safety tips in the back of the book as well!
Song: Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Fire Truck (to the tune of 10 Little Indians)
Hurry, hurry, drive the fire truck, (hands turning steering wheel)
Hurry, hurry, drive the fire truck,
Hurry, hurry, drive the fire truck,
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding!
Hurry, hurry, turn the corner (lean left and right) //
Hurry, hurry, climb the ladder (pretend to climb ladder) //
Hurry, hurry, squirt the water (pretend to spray hose) //
Slowly, slowly, back to the station (lean slowly left and right)

Rhyme/Magnets: Five Brave Firefighters
Five brave firefighters sleeping in a row,
Ring goes the bell and down they go!
They race to the fire and put out all the flames,
Then five brave firefighters go back to the station again.
Combination of Storytime Katie and King County Library System
I printed out firefighter clip art on card stock, laminated it, and attached the images to magnets to use for this rhyme.
Book: The Little Fire Truck by Margery Cuyler; illustrated by Bob Kolar
Simple rhyming book about a little fire truck and all the work it does. I love this whole series, they’re so cute and colorful for story times, and I always love anything that rhymes!
Song: 10 Little Fire Trucks (to the tune of 10 Little Indians)
One little, two little, three little fire trucks, (count on hands)
Four little, five little, six little fire trucks,
Seven little, eight little, nine little fire trucks,
Ten little fire trucks go to work!
See them squirt and spray the water, (pretend to spray hose)
See them squirt and spray the water,
See them squirt and spray the water,
Putting out the fire!
Ten little, nine little, eight little fire trucks, (count down on fingers)
Seven little, six little, five little fire trucks,
Four little, three little, two little fire trucks,
One little fire truck goes back home!
I made up this song. 🙂
