Welcome Song: Clap and Sing Hello (to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell)
We clap and sing hello,
We clap and sing hello,
With our friends at story time,
We clap and sing hello!
We tap and sing hello (tap knees) //
We stretch and sing hello (stretch arms up) //
We wave and sing hello (wave)

Eeny meeny miny mo,
Let me hear your hands go,
Clap, clap, clap-clap, clap,

Sounds so good, sounds so fine,
Let me hear it one more time!
Clap, clap, clap-clap, clap,
Clap, clap, clap-clap, clap!

Book: The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson; pictures by Axel Scheffler
Fox and Owl and Snake think Mouse looks delicious. But Mouse is friends with a Gruffalo … Who would want to mess with Mouse now?? I love this rhyming book about a trickster Mouse. The kids seemed to like it too and sat quietly even though it’s fairly long.
Flannel Board: Hickory, Dickory Dock
Fingerplay: Baby Mice
Where are the baby mice? (make a fist, hide behind back)
Squeak, squeak, squeak!
I cannot see them, (cover eyes)
Peek, peek, peek.
Here they come out of their hole! (bring fist forward)
One, two, three, four, five — and that is all! (open fingers one at a time)

Book: Such a Little Mouse by Alice Schertle; illustrated by Stephanie Yue
Little Mouse goes out every day in the big world. I love this book because it takes you through the seasons and ends with winter which is what the mice are doing right now.

Book: Mommy, Where are You? by Leonid Gore
One morning Ozzy wakes up and his Mommy isn’t there! Where could she be? I love this lift-the-flap book. I had a very subdued group today (must be all the rain) so shouting out what the creature actually was instead of his mommy was a bit of struggle but we made it through …
