Bird Story Time (OUTDOOR 2021)

Welcome Song: Clap and Sing Hello (to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell)
We clap and sing hello,
We clap and sing hello,
With our friends at story time,
We clap and sing hello!

We tap and sing hello (tap knees) //
We stretch and sing hello (stretch arms up) //
We wave and sing hello (wave)

Song: The Wheels on the Bus

Book: Mel Fell by Corey R. Tabor

Mel can fly, she knows she can! So she takes a deep breath and jumps. And then she falls … This book is new so it was my first time using it at story time and it worked great. You read it sideways when she’s falling and then halfway through, it flips as she starts to fly. Very cool concept.

Song: Five Little Ducks

Song: Itsy, Bitsy Spider

Book: Duck Sock Hop by Jane Kohuth; illustrated by Jane Porter

Rhyming book about a duck sock hop. I used to love to read this before my dance storytimes.

Song: Roly Poly
Roly poly, roly poly,
Up and down, up and down.
Roly roly poly, roly roly poly,
Up and down, up and down.

In and out // Soft and loud

Recorded Song: The Goldfish — Laurie Berkner Band

Recorded Song: She’ll Be Comin’ Round the Mountain When She Comes — Old Town School of Folk Music

I had a large group of wigglers today so I did another song off the Bluetooth speaker.

Book: Hooray for Birds by Lucy Cousins

I should have had the kids stand up when I read this one. There are a lot of actions for it. I haven’t read it in so long I forgot!

Goodbye Song: It’s Time To Say Goodbye to All Our Friends
It’s time to say goodbye to all our friends, (tap knees)
Goodbye!
It’s time to say goodbye to all our friends,
Goodbye!
It’s time to say goodbye …
Wave your hands and wink your eye!
Oh, it’s time to say goodbye to all our friends,
Goodbye! (wave)
