Winter Story Time (2018)

My very first story time in the new place! It’s going to take some getting used to but I had a great turn out and an enthusiastic audience. Very promising!

Welcome Song: Clap and Sing Hello (to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell)
We clap and sing hello,
We clap and sing hello,
With our friends at story time,
We clap and sing hello!
We wave and sing hello // We stomp and sing hello

Song: Clap, Clap, Clap Your Hands
Clap, clap, clap your hands, clap them now with me.
Clap your hands, let me see, clap them now with me.
Wiggle your feet // Stretch your arms // Zip your lips

I got this song from the children’s librarian where I did my practicum for grad school and I don’t know where she found it. I added some verses of my own.

Book: Winter is for Snow by Robert Neubecker

winter-is-for-snow

A little boy loves winter and snow. His sister is less enthusiastic. Even though this book mentions winter holidays that have already passed, I love it so we read it. Librarian’s prerogative.

Flannel: Five Little Snowflakes
One little snowflake with nothing to do,
Along came another and then there were two.
Two little snowflakes laughing with me,
Along came another and then there were three.
Three little snowflakes looking for some more,
Along came another and then there were four.
Four little snowflakes dancing a jive,
Along came another and then there were five.
Five little snowflakes having so much fun,
Out came the sun and then there were none!

Song: Dance Like Snowflakes (to the tune of Where is Thumbkin?)

In the air, in the air
Whirling, whirling, twirling
Whirling, whirling, twirling
To the ground, to the ground

Song/Scarves: We Wave Our Scarves Together (to the tune of For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow)
We wave our scarves together,
We wave our scarves together,
We wave our scarves together,
Because it’s fun to do!

We wave them high, (sing/wave high)
We wave them low, (sing/wave low)
We wave them in the middle,
Because it’s fun to do!

We throw our scarves together,
We throw our scarves together,
We throw our scarves together,
Because it’s fun to do!

We throw them high, (throw/sing high)
We throw them low, (throw/sing low)
We throw them in the middle,
Because it’s fun to do!
